Diamond Logic® Electrical System is a multiplex technology available on International® DuraStar™,
WorkStar™, TranStar™ and ProStar™ trucks. Similar to a central nervous system, Diamond Logic
enables control of and communication between vehicle components and body equipment to decrease
downtime, improve productivity, increase safety and optimize maintenance.
“Multiplexing” means sending multiple pieces of information via a single twisted pair of wires
instead of sending a single piece of information on a single wire for each gauge or control switch.
Electrical data such as engine oil pressure or switch functions such as headlamps can flow along
the same twisted pair of wires. Multiplexing helps truck equipment manufacturers (TEMs) reduce
and simplify cab and body wiring. For customers, multiplexing enables task automation, like
headlights on with wipers.
Diamond Logic offers customers an unsurpassed opportunity to customize a vehicle from two aspects –
factory-orderable features for chassis and body and advanced logic features which are custom-programmed
to address customer-specific needs on the chassis and body.
Decrease Downtime
Diamond Logic is simply reliable so you’re always up and running. Sensor signals travel through a
few simple wires which are connected to everything in the vehicle rather than travel through a
large number of wires with several single point connections – Fewer wires mean fewer failure points
and fewer connections to troubleshoot. For TEMs, Diamond Logic can provide a “gateway” into our
electrical system to streamline installation and eliminate unnecessary cutting and splicing into circuits.
Improve Productivity
Customers can program a truck to improve productivity through task automation. Control panels for
application-related truck equipment can be located in convenient areas for the operator – in the
cab or on the body itself. When new functionality needs to be added, Diamond Logic is easily re-programmed
using software.
Increase Safety
Vehicle and equipment can be protected by creating interlocks, which are operational limits and rules within
the electrical system. With interlocks, you can set limits to avoid inadvertent mistakes that cause
costly damage or injury to the vehicle, the equipment or the operator.
Optimize Maintenance
Diamond Logic monitors and diagnosis vehicle issues. It alerts you when regular maintenance is needed
so you can proactively schedule repairs and warns you of potential problems before they become critical – avoiding costly damage.
CUSTOMIZATION BY APPLICATION
Diamond Logic provides the ability to customize the vehicle chassis to suit specific application needs, streamline the body
installation process, and add conveniences for the driver and/or operator.
Here is a small sample of features available through Diamond Logic. International can customize an International® DuraStar™,
WorkStar™, TranStar™ and ProStar™ truck for almost any application. Contact your local dealer to find out what Diamond
Logic can do for you and your business.
Dump
A back-up alarm and dump bed indicator lights can be factory-installed for safety and TEM convenience. Tarp controls can be programmed
with advanced logic to automatically wind and unwind to prevent product loss.
Fire/Emergency
For fire/emergency applications, the driver needs to focus on driving. That’s why we can install air horns for passenger
control at the factory. A remote engine speed control can be factory-installed to set the pump speed as well.
With advanced custom logic, load sequencing master switch can be programmed to engage multiple body loads at customer selected intervals.
Mixer
For the mixer application, wipers can be set at the factory to automatically slow when vehicle stops to prevent
windshield etching. TEMs appreciate the programmable PTO accommodations for setting operating parameters to
protect the operator and equipment. Remote body switches can be custom programmed to control concrete chutes and water valves.
Plow
With all the lighting required for a plow application, a plow lighting accommodation can be factory-installed to save the
TEMs time and effort. A high amperage switch can be factory-installed to control the light bar. Through advanced logic,
the rear gate unlock switch can be controlled by an air solenoid to unlock the gate for dumping sand/gravel.
Propane/Compressed Gas
For the propane/compressed gas application, a theft deterrent system can be added at the factory requiring a security
code for the vehicle to be driven. For TEMs, air solenoids can be factory-installed to control valves to the propane
delivery system. For truly customized application-specific features, Diamond Logic offers advanced logic programming
like remote vehicle shutdown where the operator can shut off the engine outside of the cab in emergency conditions.
Utility
To meet the complex needs of the utility application, indicator lights and audible alarms can be factory-installed to
alert drivers and operators when equipment is not stored properly – for example boom out-of-stow. Remote power
modules (plug and play integration between body equipment and chassis) can be factory-installed to allow the TEMs
to select optimal operating settings for equipment. With advanced programming, body-mounted warning flashers and
lights can be customized to operator specifications.
Waste
Because waste vehicles are working regardless of weather, headlights can be programmed to turn on with wipers as a
driver convenience. The available pre-trip light inspection feature makes the light inspection a one-person job –
an added convenience and time-saver for the driver. For TEMs, remote engine speed controls can be factory-installed
to run hydraulic equipment. With advanced programming, packing operation interlocks can be set up to protect
equipment if safety requirements are not met.
